  1. This was well done, and accurate. If you visit, don't miss the "Museum Of America" on the south side of town. well worth the $6 to get in. it took the better part of a day to see it all!

  2. I can still remember the butterflies I felt in my stomach when the reality of my decision had finally hit me. I was leaving not just my home but also my family. It was goodbye Mississippi, for good.

Such a decision might seem trivial to some, but to me — a 7th generation Mississippian — this was akin to having an amputation. It was like a part of me was going to be subtracted, moving to Montana. I expected it. I knew I couldn't avoid it. And yet I went. My fears and my reservations, they were all baseless. My experience in Montana was the best experience of my life. It was the richest time. I lived there for one year, back in 2011, and not a day goes by that I don't miss Montana.

One of the first indications on the type of state I'd moved to occurred while standing on my moving trailer. I was contemplating how I was going to get a heavy couch-bed up some stairs by myself. A stranger happened by and said, "Hey, I saw you standing here thinking about moving that couch. Why don't you let me give you a hand." Once we moved the couch, the guy wouldn't even take money. That's the type of folks in Montana.

While there I was invited on hunting trips with other friends I had made. There was always something to do. Although I only lived there for a year (and that was seven years ago now), not a day goes by that I don't miss the great state of Montana and the good people there.

Despite the fact that people associate the southern part of the US with hospitality (and it's true, people in Mississippi are really hospitable), Montana has its own share of hospitality. In truth, it's a state with a small population of people who — for the most part — are salt-of-the-earth. Good people.

    Montana grew on me.

    Kid: Whats a hitchhiker.
    Kid: Another one?!?
Kid: But what was that that you just hit with the car?
Mom: I don't care. It was probably just a rabbit.
    Kid: Ok…

    The End

    This was just for laughs.

  5. Kid: Are we there yet?
Mom: Why don't you look up from your iPod and take a look?
    Kid looks up.
    Kid: This is it?
Mom: Ya?! What were you expecting?
Kid: I was expecting something more like the brochures?!
    Mom: How's that?
Kid: There's no snow. There's snow in the video.
    Mom: Ya, but that's winter.
    Kid: Oh…But why aren't I mesmerized yet?
    Mom: Because we're in Plains.
    Kid: Oh… Wheres that?
    Mom: UGGGHHH!!!!!
    Kid: What?
    Mom: We must be close.
    Kid: How can you tell?
