Life Just Keeps Getting Better! | Wingin' It!, Ep 17 | RV Texas Y'all

hey y'all hey guys welcome back to another wiener Wednesday yeah look at this wow what a setting right holy cow we got up here we're on a trail and we got up to this midway point on the trail and we said we need to shoot a winging it up here absolutely so this week's winging it is about things just keep getting better in this RV full-time lifestyle so stay tuned alright y'all know the rules of winging it we set the timer on my phone for 10 minutes we talked about the topic when the timer goes off we wrap things up if you're not already subscribed to our channel we invite you to do that we film videos and we publish them every Sunday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. central every wednesday being winging it wins yeah Wednesday so we hope you'll join us all right we're setting the phone to 10 minutes and it's hard to see the screen we're winging it so yeah you know guys when we when we thought about going full time in our RV a lot of it had to do with the state parks and the natural areas that we would visit when we were part time RVs well we wanted to experience life you know we wanted to get out in nature absolutely and you know when we would take a trip when we were part time that last day of the trip would come and we'd be having to say goodbye to the park or wherever we had been spending time and it was like oh man we wanted that to continue and so now it does the last few weeks we've been going from state park to state park to state park with a few more to go and well what a journey it has been here recently yeah it does keep getting better if you saw our Sunday video that we had this last Sunday it was about mooch talking at some of our friend's house and that was awesome too and it felt like we were in a state park we said and and at that point in our full time journey that was one of the neatest things we had and and I mean from there now we've just been going to a lot of state parks and it like Stacy said it just keeps getting better because look at this what we're getting to experience and this trail has just been unbelievable you'll you'll see a future video on this state park we're at Copper break State Park and this is the Juniper Ridge Trail yeah if you ever get here you absolutely if you can it's it's it's semi challenging it's not as bad as some of the trails in Garner garner or chopper we're definitely more challenging but but it still is you know up and down and a few rocks here and there but it's not too bad I mean don't don't get discouraged in thinking it's it's too challenging it's not real challenging you're not going to bring a bike on this trail but no I mean I'm sure they're people that might but I wouldn't but it is stunning I mean right now the breeze is blowing perfectly blue skies and yes as we filmed this video we're a little behind what you're seeing in our Sunday videos now was probably about a month to five to go yeah and it's always probably going to stay that way we we have to have time to edit we have to have time to edit our thoughts together and and there's other things too when we're here in the future we're going to be getting on the road going out of Texas and we're going to go into national parks and stuff and we're not going to have any service and here we have very limited yeah we I mean last Sunday's video it took us over six hours to upload a 16 minute video so and this one is going to take a while to upload probably but we make them up here to upload it because we have a lot better service up here so it may upload real quick but and like on RV you know friend Robin Williams is holding his laptop up to try to get his report to upload that's what we felt like in the last few days so we've got to get ahead on videos so we can schedule some videos hopefully when we're in those national parks and have no connectivity hopefully we'll have videos uploaded so we you know won't be late or miss a Sunday or a Wednesday right we want to stick to our schedule as much as possible yep and so but yeah well this this is what we personally had in mind there's a lot of different ways yeah RV oh yeah there's a lot of different ways to enjoy it for us this is this was a lot of our motivation this is what we had in mind this is what we envisioned when we thought about waking up in the morning what we'd be able to do yeah I mean it's been it's such a beautiful place all these we've we've been to three state parks right in a row we're gonna be going to a fourth one right after this and a fifth 106 thought and even a sex one that's right a little string yes we're gonna hit six state points in a row and and then we're gonna chore and we're gonna have our truck towards the north and and so this is how I envisioned it guys we started out in RV parks which is okay and and we enjoyed there that's a whole different type of lifestyle and we enjoy them we enjoy those as well and but it's nothing like getting out here in nature and I mean look at this were on top of this Ridge we're filming this video there's nobody around no I mean we haven't seen another person on this trail today yeah so we figured why not let's wing it okay you can't hear anything well now you can hear us but the occasional bird the occasional cricket that's what we're hearing in the breeze well we're hearing our neighbors that were next to us they're not there anymore but they left this weekend they told us when they came on this trail they got a honk or something yeah swooped over him because I guess he was protecting his nest and that write a kite yeah a kite they said I don't know I okay well that kite we need to learn more about her Birds yeah swooped over them and then some other people that came in the park said the same thing happened to them but we haven't had that experience yet yet we're halfway through the trail maybe we're not near his nest yet so we'll try to keep the camera rolling for that yeah I mean this it really is awesome guys this is this is for us what it's all about but we still like mixing in RV parks don't get me wrong I like to nice swimming Pole and and a place to wash our clothes I mean like right now the laundry is yeah we're gonna have to figure things out on that happy just shower in our clothes there you go okay and you know hey you heard it from her if I do it you heard it here Raven and chickadee say you know it's okay to dry your underwear in that in the oven so you know too bad we don't have we have a convection oven our tips video in case you missed it there all and they're probably in a state or national park somewhere absolutely and but it's it's really incredible the weather here has been awesome I mean we had one day a couple of the days that were in the upper 70s it was unbelievable yeah a few days ago so we're in where we are copper breaks State Park is at the lower northeastern or excuse me lower eastern side of the Texas Panhandle and just shy of Oklahoma and a few days ago and it is June by the way as we film this yep it it was 99 degrees real temperature where the feel like have like a hundred and two because it's dry here it's a dry heat yeah yeah you don't have the humidity like you do in Houston but that night a storm came through we really didn't get much of the storm no bit of rain and one thing of one big class the storm went north of us but the next morning it was in the 70s and it stayed 70s low 80s all day it was absolutely oh when we went from Stacie had blankets up and all of the front of the RV to try to keep the heat out from the windshield and the front windows and it actually worked a little bit but we went from that to the next day all the windows are open and off and just airing out the RV and and it was it was it was awesome so but yeah so we're gonna be having a string here let's see we've got what you're gonna be seeing we've got a trip to San Marcos still to show you yep we've got well we also have which is gonna be cool I think of me this Sunday will be the video on us putting in the sink to put in a new faucet yeah a little more of a project than we had hoped initially but it always yeah and it was lucky because I'll just tell you we were able to do it when we were moots talking so that's right it goes with the video from last Sunday kinda and and luckily Greg had the tools we needed yes because we couldn't have done it out on the road because it did take some extra tools now we could have gone to a hardware store and bought some of them but it was awesome that Greg had the proper tools for us yep and so we got the job done and and so we're gonna share that with you there's there's probably a little comedy in that as well but it it was he's very flexible oh yeah yeah I pretty much was for that deal but yeah coming up after that you're gonna see our trip to San Marcos yeah pecan Park RV park we just stayed and we've stayed before and that was a lot of fun you're gonna see our trip to Fort Parker State Park yep you're gonna see our trip to Fort Richardson State Park we're at copper breaks right now we're not – yes yeah absolutely all right well you know what that means it's if I can see it to turn it off there we go I hope you enjoyed this episode of winging it I'd give us a thumbs up and we'd love to hear about the favorite things you love to do when you're out at the state parks yeah we feel so much healthier y'all we're out hiking we're out biking we're eating good cuz we're eating at the RV so we're eating healthier cooking all of our food you know you open up your mind you know this plate these places just open up your mind we're bringing in I feel like I'm learning so much history and everything to which in our videos coming up of the state parks we're going to be covering the history of those state parks and why they exist and stuff and to me that's a whole other thing that's pretty awesome about these places absolutely so stick with us subscribe if you haven't share it with your friends and leave us a comment to share your favorite state parks and the things you'd like to do when you're there until next time keep on winging it safe travels and happy camping bye

When we were weekend RVers, we had an image in our heads of what full-time RV life would look like for us. RVing is different for everyone and there are a lot of different ways to enjoy the lifestyle. We enjoy time in RV parks and all of the amenities that come with them. But we bought the smallest diesel pusher currently manufactured so that we could stay in more state parks, national parks, and other natural areas. We’ve been living in our RV full-time now for over 7 months. In that time, we’ve experienced different styles of RV camping and a variety of lengths of stays. We feel like we’re finding our groove now, and it just keeps getting better! That’s the topic of this week’s Wingin’ It!.

what a spectacular sunset huh good answer anything better this is freaking awesome and it's free we're life well we're never live alright guys so we are at the gray rocks reservoir whoo that's another mouthful it's a free camping area in Wyoming and we have had we've had a really good few days here we were planning on staying five nights but there is a snow storm coming through surprise surprise yes and solar and snow do not work well together when those panels are covered we don't bring in any any power and we'd be ok for a couple days but it's supposed to be a winter storm of sorts and we don't want to get snowed in and we're gonna dirt road and I might get muddy and we don't know really too much for us no yeah I mean the original plan was to stay here for about five nights and route to Custer State Park Custer State Park and South Dakota yeah yes near mount restaurant near Mount Rushmore so that was the original plan but like Christina said there's a stupid snowstorm possibility warning in effect so so we're gonna try to move to a different campground hopefully in the same city yeah breathe its Capote was free but I guess we'll we'll find out once we get there hopefully there's a spot available the upside of that is that it has electricity there too so that'll definitely come in handy for us especially if we're expecting snow so yep so that's the main reason snow we're moving just because you know it's our duh I mean we could get the generator out and stuff but nobody wants to deal with that crap and snow if you don't have to absolutely yeah especially when there's a free city perk just a few miles down the road yeah so and we had to do laundry anyway so if we get a spot then you know we'll go do some laundry at the laundromat in town yeah suck up on some groceries so my favorite thing about this place was the sunsets what was your favorite thing all three nights they were spectacular yeah I mean just being stationed by the lake itself it's awesome plus you know there's a fire pit right next to it that we were able to manage to have at least two fires yeah considering it's windy here like all the time yeah but the one kind of stopped every night between like 7:00 and 9:00 so that was like the perfect time to have a campfire cook some dinner outside so yeah we had a fantastic time we would absolutely come back so this place is in what is it called Wheatland Wheatland Wyoming yep so we are gonna hit back hit back Oh awesome don't forget to tell them that there's ten gates oh yeah there's ten gates here so don't worry about not finding a spot I mean you could literally probably Park to 300 RVs motorhomes fifth wheels on this there pull let's pull off everywhere around yourself shout out again to compendium because that's how we found this spot and usually whenever we find a spot on camp in DM we will go to YouTube and Google Earth the last couple places that we found on camp in DM that we really really really liked driving if I even had a video on so shout out to them for ya for finding this jump mm-hmm yes for us fellow campers yeah man it is just awesome here so we are at gate number seven the roads the spots great for big rigs yeah big small you name it you can get in here no problem it is fantastic yep and as a seven-night stay seven nights a inners there's dumpsters not to be confused with a dump station there are plenty of dumpsters for garbage there are pit toilets basically all you really need yeah and I mean if you get desperate take your gallon and down to the lake and put it in your freshman water tank for showers I mean it's just you could manage here for seven days pretty darn easy pretty darn easy yeah we loved it thanks Wyoming we love you Wyoming yep so dr. window dr. Winn hey it's not as bad it's Worth Texas to say to say look at all that laundry all of that laundry we haven't done laundry since some angel fire in New Mexico anyway we did find a spot at the free park so that's exciting you excited me I am super duper excited about that so we're all settled in we are gonna go do laundry before the snow starts and I get that out of the way we were planning on doing that tomorrow but he wants to go out in the snow so [Laughter] what a morning yeah my first experience with snow on moving day yes yeah so forget all the ice and snow off top well they got all the ice and snow off the top asbestos as he could so everybody behind us should be safe that's right that's right so Louis Park in Wheatland is more than sufficient what do you think I think so I mean it's a beautiful park it's three days today has the electric mm-hmm and it's free yep has a dump station has pot of potable water is it potable potable I don't know be the comments leave that information in the comments for us the town of school has everything you need laundromat grocery store the whole nine yards liquor store Pizza Hut I love me some pizza anyway this Park has disc golf it has they're building a mini golf Mini Putt Putt thing so that's cool a walking path it has several playgrounds what else am I missing it has tennis court basketball court skateboarding Park what else plenty of places to pick us a basketball court yeah okay yeah basketball court really really really cool City Park yeah so if you're ever in the area I would absolutely recommend staying here for a few nights yeah and also trying to do it during a week and if you're doing and doing a week try to get here as early as you can yeah we got here I think about 11 o'clock in the morning and then by when we got back from doing laundry maybe it was four or five going there were no more slots left nothing yeah now keep in mind also there's only that one is Tuesday or Monday Monday Monday there's only six spots here for electric there's also maybe two three other spots for dry camping with no electric so yeah I'm on all great stay great city we are moving on today it is so cold outside but the show must go on yes and we're so excited for where we're going yes we are all right guys ready to hit back McMillan Express out face you you

RV Living brings us to Wheatland, Wyoming for free camping opportunities. First, we visit Grayrocks Reservoir for a few nights to enjoy some lakeside camping. Lots of camping spots here for everything from big rig RV’s to tents. There is a 7 day stay limit, pit toilets, dumpsters, boat ramp and campfires are permitted. Next, we camp at Lewis Park in Wheatland, WY which allows a 3 day stay with electric, for FREE. There is potable water available to fill fresh water tank and a dump station. Donations are accepted. Both places were absolutely beautiful and well maintained. We highly recommend both campgrounds and the small town of Wheatland. Wheatland has everything you may need from fuel to groceries, restaurants and laundromat.

Living Like a Local in Galveston TX | Full-time RV Life | RVTY

Living Like a Local in Galveston TX | Full-time RV Life | RVTY
36 Comments

hey y'all welcome back you know one of the things that we love about full-time RV living is it's giving us the opportunity to really spend as much or as little time in any given location as we want to sometimes we might stay at night or two sometimes a week we're still kind of fine-tuning what that sweet spot is for us and what works best for having the time to explore an area but as part of our experimentation we recently spent an entire month on Galveston Island and that was quite the experience yeah it gave us a chance to kind of live like a local we had enough time to experience some of the things we've never been able to experience before it also you know if you don't know sometimes if you stay longer at an RV Resort and sometimes some state parks we're finding out for like a week or a month you get a discount you know so we were able to go to one of the places we loved a lot like Galveston get the discount and live like a local and if you saw last week in our video we did some video on historic gangster or some of the hidden historic stuff estaciΓ³n I never even knew about because every time when we went to Galveston it would be four years a few days and we just didn't have the time to really dive in so we had the time to dive in if you didn't see that video I'd strongly recommend it we'll put a link down in the description and hopefully you can enjoy that it was really really interesting and so did in today's video we're going to show you more about kind of our living like a local in Galveston we're gonna take you along as we participate in a community beach cleanup we are going to visit one of the restaurants that a lot of folks have recommended to us over the years as a place where the locals eat that we had just never taken the time to go to we finally yay get a chance to put our kayaks in the water yeah and since we were there long enough to get some mail and packages delivered Starr gets a new page of booties that was hilarious so stick around so if y'all remember earlier this year when we were down in Fontana we went over to Surfside Beach and participated in a dune restoration program so while we were in Galveston we jumped at the chance to participate in a beach cleanup now this beach cleanup is happens twice a year and it actually happens all along the Texas Gulf Coast they were doing it in various locations and what they have you do is they assign you to a beach we were down at East Beach which is the far east end of Galveston Island and they have you not only picked up any trash that you find but also log that trash so that they can kind of get an idea of what is on the beaches maybe what's coming in via the water things they need to be aware of so it was a it was a good day to spend the morning yeah there was some crazy stuff I mean we even found some electronics and stuff that was trashed on the beach yeah you know things that kind of surprised us was pull-tab still I can't believe they still had that we found a full shaker of salt so if you're looking for that Jimmy Buffett we found it it was just crazy but the event was was started at Minard park here for the Galveston thing and that's where we met and that's when we came back that's where we brought everything and it was neat too because they had some booths set up to teach you about birding and things on the island and then another day we went down that they actually had a triathlon or a half triathlon a Half Ironman Triathlon that's a lot going on in Galveston they do this every year so we thought hey let's just ride our bikes over there and get some exercise ourselves and check it out these guys really impress the heck out of me yeah I mean there was it's unbelievable because this is after they've already swam and then they do this long bike ride and then of course they run yeah it's a 1.2 miles saltwater swim a 56 mile bike ride and a half marathon a 13 one point Mile Run now for a little bike ride here Jamaica beach so yeah this is a great little way to get around and explore in Jamaica beach RV Resort this is one of our favorite RV parks we always have a great time here shout out to rod Dora Nate Angie Eric all the guys else it run this part they do an awesome job we have a full video on Jamaica beach RV Resort that I'll link in the description in case you haven't seen it but yeah we were really not going this fast we're not trying Lea sorry but but it was great you know we got a little exercise and we got to go around and talk to folks and here we ran into some new friends from Maryland so we stopped and visited and that's one of the best things yeah really got to know um they just recently retired and they're gonna start our bend a lot more and they were really neat people and of course we're in Galveston so we have to go to Galveston coffee roasters my buddy from high school John Alvarez and his wife drew running yeah that was really really good oh my gosh for so many years people have told us that we need to come to shrimp and stuff and Galveston to eat and yeah I can see why we've heard from so many people this was fantastic yeah the grilled shrimp talk is the best I've ever had I mean there's no doubt about it and what was the appetizer called do you remember no but it was shrimp wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cheese yeah I mean doesn't sound healthy but it was good it was really good so yeah my you have chance you know look at this place shrimp and stuff it's on 23rd just off of mechanic in Galveston fantastic till Nasir we said hi he was awesome yeah he's goodness or good Nasir yeah you'll know why when we do it when you come thank you sir thank you Dan sir so this is one of the murals around Galveston they're done by an artist named Gabriel who we saw actually when we were coming into town this last time he was painting the welcome signs that are on either side of 45 as you enter into Galveston off the bridge I mean it's just amazing talent when you're looking at this building this is I mean there's texture on the you know it's brick walls and he's working around the doors and the yeah he's an aerosol artists so pretty amazing he's on Instagram and gasps Mac 87 there we are [Laughter] this is Betsy and Chris and you've seen him before check out their channel as we go thank you and look this is their rig we got to see that rig who miss Emmy Miss Emmy and miss any it's pretty cool we spent the afternoon with Betsy and Chris it was awesome catching up we see them now just a couple pounds a year and we just found out something pretty cool y'all I we got to put this out there they went full time November 3rd 2017 and Stacey and I went full time November 3rd 2018 so now we're gonna have to get together on November 3rd I guess yeah so that's really cool anywhere you can find them during the summer we work up right now we're were camping up at the Black Hills wild horse sanctuary and hot springs South Dakota about 15 miles out of town just a great place they rescue wild mustangs specifically give them homes for that we do tours work in the office work in the gift shop so if you're up that way and say hey if you take a tour Betsy just and if you need to get on the bus he might be driving the baby so yeah look up there leave them a comment and say hi yep absolutely it's been a good day it has been always great connecting with the wonderful friends we make on the road that's right that's why we do [Laughter] and part of living like a local for us is finding the local farmers markets and they have a couple here at the Brian Museum each week this was the Thursday market and this is actually how we found the fried museum which we had in last week's video but they do another market on Saturday sets a lot bigger we'll show you that in next week's video but it's a nice little market there's some good stuff we do a walk around first to kind of see what's out there and then go back [Laughter] that worked out real well beautiful day yes [Applause] what do you like I can boost for star a good girl you good girl you are second one's not going as well as the first one she's just preparing for the battle it says let's get a tree let's get it tsehai step to the tree look at what a good girl you are yeah it's going pretty well it feels good on your feet we don't have to worry about burning the gun I can't believe how easy that was he's not even trying to take him off no that's unbelievable it's such a good girl okay I like that experiment so far it's been a thumbs-up success that was so much easier than I expected it to be she doesn't seem to be bothered by these at all so yeah hopefully it will continue that way we actually I'm gonna bought these on Amazon so I'll put a link I'll add them to our store our storefront and if you guys are interested in taking a look yeah I mean so far big thumbs up I think it's gonna really be good for and we'll put a link in the description below as well if you want to see them what do you think it's such a good girl so we'll see you Wednesday safe travels and happy camping bye

One of the great things about full-time RV life is that we can stay somewhere as long as we want to. We are still experimenting on how long we stay at each location. Recently, we stayed on Galveston Island for a month. Having a longer stay allowed us to live like a local and experiencing a few places and things that we never had before. So in this video, we take you along as we live like a local in Galveston! We are loving the flexibility we have as full time RVers!
